 How do I enter a downtime reason?

You can add a downtime reason from many views. In this example, we are using the Hourly View.

  1. Open the Whiteboard

  2. Select the Hourly View for the machine you want to add a downtime reason to

  3. Find the hour when the downtime occurred

  4. Click on the grey box that shows the downtime as shown below

  5. Select a downtime reason from the dropdown list, select time duration, and click save.

 How do I enter a scrap reason?

You can add a scrap reason from many views. In this example, we are using the Hourly View.

  1. Open the Whiteboard

  2. Select the Hourly View for the machine you want to add a scrap reason to

  3. Find the hour when the scrap reason occurred

  4. Click on the green box that shows the machine state as running

  5. Select a scrap reason from the dropdown list, select the number of scrap units that occurred in that hour and click save.

 How do I return to the home page on the Whiteboar?

The fastest way to return to the homepage from any view on the whiteboard is just to click on the Shoplogix logo on the top left corner of the whiteboard.

 How do I look at previous shift history?

To navigate shift history, simply use the navigation arrows located at the top right and left corners of the screen. Keep track of the shift name and date easily from the top center section of the screen.

 How do I navigate to an specific date or shift?

To navigate to a specific date or shift, simply click on the gear icon on the top right of the screen. A pop-up menu will appear, allowing you to select the desired date.

 Why does the Whiteboard not update in real time?

Our update speed ranges from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, depending on the strength of the machine's connection and the customer database. The slight delay is due to various factors, including the machine's output and connectivity, which affect the data dependency.

 What is the best Whiteboard view for my operator?

There is no one correct answer to this question as it is relative to the customer’s industry, workflow and work culture. Depending on the customer’s preference for analyzing data, there are multiple great views for the operator, including:

  • Hourly View  – detailed and easy to understand and analyze performance on a shift basis

  • Chrono View – easy to understand. Usual operator tasks such as adding scrap and downtime reasons can be easily completed from this view

 What is the best view for my area TV display?

Depending on the customer’s preference for analyzing data, workflow and work culture there are multiple great views for area TV display:

  • The Hourly View is highly utilized for its ability to present data on a shift basis, making it simple for operators and managers to analyze production.

  • The Dashboard and Layout views are also very useful as they provide all the required data

 Can I overlay the layout view on our own layout?

This feature does not exist in the current version of our software. However, it is under consideration for a more robust version of this feature. However, there is no expected timeline for the approved development.

 How is OEE calculated?

Shoplogix follows the official OEE calculation standard. However, it may vary from customer to customer. Depending on the view and timeframe, the values are edited and filtered for the particular display.

OEE = Availability * Performance * Quality

 How is Cycle TIme Calculated?

Cycle time is the time calculated between 2 produced parts i.e. the time between the PLC signals for produced parts, for more precise values.

 How is Availability calculated?

Operation time is the time the machine is supposed to run compared with the time the machine is actually running. This again is dependent on the type of industry and type of product.

 Can I change the base units on the whiteboard?

Base units can be changed on the Whiteboard as per the following steps:

  1. Click on the gear Icon

  2. Select Display

  3. Navigate to the units field and select your desired units

  4. Click Save

 Can a Job start/end be automated?

Automated jobs can be done with an OPC tag that triggers the job and another that lets Shoplogix know when a job ends.

 How can I change a downtime reason?

To change downtime reason:

  1. You need to open a view that supports that on the whiteboard (e.g. Hourly view, Chrono view)

  2. Select the downtime reason you are changing from

  3. Select the downtime reason you want to change to

  4. Click  Save.

 How are metrics on the Whiteboard calculated?

Here is a list of the most popular metrics on the Whiteboard:

  • OEE = Availability * Performance * Quality

    • Availability = Uptime / Planned Productive Time

    • Performance = ( Number of parts produced) / (Machine rate * Uptime)

    • Quality = [(Number of parts produced) - (Number of parts rejected)] / (Number of parts produced)

  • OEE = Availability * Performance * Quality Ratio

  • OEE = Good Production (pcs) / ( Expected speed (parts/hr) * Scheduled Time (hr) )
