The OEE Waterfall displays loss categories and breaks down all categories of production that make up a specific machine, area, or line. The display breaks down into availability, performance, and quality. It can be further broken down into areas of focus, such as machine state or downtime losses, utilizing your Downtime Group configuration. Keep reading for a breakdown of the OEE Waterfall Features.

Scheduled Time: the amount of time this machine is scheduled to run for the given time period.

Shutdown: the amount of time difference between Duration and  Scheduled Time. Reasons are shown upon expansion by clicking the Shutdown bar.

Planned Time: any time associated with the blue “planned” categories in the downtime reasons list below. Clicking the Planned column will expand it to show the reason associated with the planned time. In this case, “Sanitation” is the associated reason.

Available Runtime: all other time not grouped under Planned time. This breakdown is also reflected in the summary chart below in which Planned and Available Runtime add up to Scheduled time.

Unplanned Time: includes any time that falls under the red Unplanned reasons in the Downtime Reasons list. This list can be further expanded to drill into the top categories by clicking on the Unplanned column as shown in the images below:

Productive Time: the difference between Available Runtime and Unplanned time

Speed Loss/Gain: time (%) lost/gained from running undercycle/overcycle

Quality Loss: A positive quality loss (or excess good) value represents the time lost due to scrap during production. A negative value represents either excess good or rework on a machine/line. Quality loss is calculated as Scrap Parts/Rate.

Opportunity Pareto Overview

The Opportunity Pareto view has a host of available combinations for selecting data to display several reports at once, including the Pareto chart. The new 3-Tiered Pareto lets you choose up to 3 levels of Pareto.

You can operate the reports in the Opportunity Pareto view by selecting various groupings from three drop down menus. The selections made in Level 1 will influence what is available to be selected in Level 2 with similar logic applying from Level 2 to Level 3.

Added Comments are also available to provide an easier way to find the Comments against your Losses.  Choose Comments as your 2nd or 3rd-level Pareto Grouping, and you will get a Comment Pareto against your search.

Opportunity Pareto brings many new ways to correlate your losses. These include:

  • Job Filter 1 -> Machine -> Reason Group

  • Shift -> Job -> Reason

  • Reason Group -> Reason -> Comment

Opportunity Pareto enables you to sort your Losses by Occurrences, Duration or % of Time providing a clear visualization of what machines, downtime reasons, jobs, or shifts have higher or lower occurrences.
