Working with Shift and Time Data

When working with the Analytics Portal, there are a few key metrics that you’ll likely be using very often:

  • Calendar DateTime

  • Shift Start DateTime

  • Shift End DateTime

  • Shift Recency

These will help you grab the data you want, based on the type of report you’re trying to create.

In this article, we’ll go over each item and define it. We’ll also provide some examples on what kind of data to expect back when using them.

Calendar DateTime

This is your true “24 hour clock”. This has nothing to do with your shifts or plant operation schedule. If you run a report using times from this field, you’ll be getting data based on the actual time-stamp of the data.

NOTE: The Analytics Portal aggregates records and timestamps to hours. This means your lowest level of detail will be at the hour-by-hour basis

Shift Start DateTime

This is the timestamp of when your shift is scheduled to start. This is extremely useful when you’re trying to pull data of your shifts where 1 shift may overlap between 2 calendar days.

Shift End DateTime

This is the timestamp of when your shift is scheduled to end. This is very similar to Shift Start DateTime above. Again, this can be used when your shift may end on a different day than it started, and you’d like to grab all the shift’s data, sorted by day.

Shift Recency

This filter makes it easy to grab shift data based on recent time periods. You’ll be able to grab the Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, or Last Month.
